A winsome face and wings from the Butterfly Angel mold
will turn an artificial silk flower into something
special for anyone's fantasy garden.

Fairy Flower

In this example, the flower stamens
form a natural halo around
the fairy's hair.

RosebudAdditional Ideas:

  • Use iridescent paints or rhinestones on the fairy's wings.
  • Arrange a grouping of silk flowers with a whole family of fairies.
  • Expand on this idea using angel wings instead of butterfly wings.
  • Add a fairy to an artificial poinsettia for a holiday theme.

Fairies and flowers just go together, and this project is no exception. It starts with a 3.5" diameter artificial peony on a wire stem. You could substitute almost any variety of silk flower approximately the same size, as long as it has multiple layers of petals. Mold and bake one head and two wings in Fimo Flesh.

Check the Painting Tips at this site for step-by-step photos on how to paint polymer clay with transparent acrylic paints. Use Arts & Crafts Goop to attach the finished wings between the flower's petals. If your flower has a raised center, remove it before gluing the head. This project is displayed in a 2.8" terra cotta flower pot.
