Pierced Floral Gift Box

Print and pierce a floral bouquet of digital stamping images on a chipboard gift box, by Judi Maddigan

Floral Gift BoxProject Description

The flowers on this gift box lid were printed, colored, pierced, and cut out. The lines between some of the petals have also been cut, allowing the petals to be shaped individually for dimension. The box was made from two pieces of 12 x 12" patterned chipboard, and the box's overall finished size is 9" square. This layout was inspired by traditional Baltimore Album quilt appliqué.

Materials & Techniques

Digital stamping images from AngelsLanding.com: Pierced Flowers or Simply Flowers, Pierced Backgrounds.

Materials: good quality white cardstock, two coordinating colors of solid cardstock for matting, Tombo Mono Multi liquid glue, two pieces of 12 x 12" patterned chipboard, Terrifically Tacky Tape (for box corners).

Craft supplies: Needle piercing tool, sharp detail scissors, paper trimmer, art supplies for coloring or painting, Pigma Micron 01 black marker, Scor-Pal (optional) and scoring tool, large ball stylus, mouse pad.

Techniques: The flower and leaf images were printed with a laser printer on artist quality watercolor paper and painted with watercolors. The piercing is done after coloring but before cutting and shaping. A large ball stylus and mouse pad were used to shape the petals from the wrong side.
