Design Team: Wild Card Wednesday

Today I’m introducing a new blog feature, Wild Card Wednesday. With the wonderful level of talent on the Design Team, sometimes I think it’s a good idea to just sit back and let them all do their own things. That’s the idea behind Wild Cards, which will run on the last Wednesday of each month. There are no set guidelines, other than their creations must be cards. Sure enough, the designers have come up with their own favorites, for a wide range of really fun cards.

Baby Train by Lisa Cook

digi-stamps

Today Lisa is sharing a sweet baby train card with us. She wanted it to be a card on a single sheet to showcase all three train car images. The blocks underneath the train really play up the patchwork idea. She used Copic markers to color the images, adding pearls here and there for some bling. The sweet lamb is fuzzy from Fun Flock in white. A little extra glue before she added the Fun Flock gave the coat more dimension and made it look curly. The cute caboose bunny tail is just a pink pompom. The train wheels are her own chipboard pieces she cut from some scraps then covered with the coordinating papers. This really made the train come to life.

Sugar Glider Hello by Cindy Royal

This is a "spring" card, in that when you take it from the envelope it springs up. Yes… it really does fit in an envelope. Cindy used several layered cut flowers and vines as well as stitched several vines on this project. The Sugar Glider from the Aussie Animals set is colored first with Copics, then a bit of shading is added with Prismacolor pencils.

Just a Note by Amber Hight

Amber created this card from a 4.25" x 11" piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock, scored at 5.5". She chose this adorable bear from Mini Bears & Birds because she loved that he’s holding a little calligraphy pen. It goes perfectly with the "Just a note" tag from Pierced Tags. She colored and shaded the bear image with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.

"Thinking of You, Grandma" by Cheryl Walker

digi-stamps

Cheryl designed this card for the Stampin’ Sisters in Christ challenge blog, and she was to show someone she is either thinking about them or praying for them. So, she wanted to do a "Thinking of you" card for her grandma who lives in California. She colored the image from Autumn Tweetings with Copics, and then used the Nesties frames to cut it out. She added white dots and did sewing on the DP panels. She added a leaf charm and some different ribbon that she hasn’t used before.

Autumn Tweetings Tri-Shutter Card by Broni Holcombe

digi-stamps

Several of the bird images and a sentiment from the Autumn Tweetings set were used to create a Tri-Shutter card. The images were printed, then colored with Copic markers and cut out either with oval dies or scissors. The sentiment piece was airbrushed while still in the scalloped oval die.

This photo shows how Broni’s Tri-Shutter card looks when it is opened. Several different coordinating Autumn-themed patterned papers were used to cover each section of the card to serve as backgrounds for the images. This was a fun card to make.

Today Lynn decided to play around with layering her digital images from Judi’s delightful Ho Ho Hollydays to create a fun Christmas card for her cat-loving family members. The images were printed on white Georgia Pacific card stock and colored with Copic markers. She added the polka-dots with Itty Bitty Backgrounds from Stampin’ Up. She also added some pretty holiday ribbon and holly leaves for fun.

Hollyday Quail by Jennifer Love

Jennifer printed out the quail from Ho Ho Hollydays on white cardstock then colored in with Copic markers. She added a bit of glitter on the white of the hat for some bling and then put some rhinestones on the holly berries for some interest. The little punched leaves were added above the image and mat to give it a "woodsy" feel.
