October’s Wild Card Wednesday

It’s the last Wednesday of the month, and that means the Design Team has the freedom to make any type of card. They’ve all chosen merry and bright holiday themes. Click the thumbnails below to see larger photos and more details on their blogs.

Cardinal 25 by Broni Holcombe

The small cardinal on a branch from the Season’s Tweetings digi stamp set was used as a centerpiece for the Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Pendant die cut. The image was printed on kraft cardstock and colored with Prismacolor pencils. Another cardinal was also printed and colored, then cut out and mounted onto the first with mounting tape. A double loop bow was tied and attached, then the ribbon tails were covered with a thin layer of liquid glue so they could be attached to the card only at certain points and dry a little stiffly to maintain the flowing look. The numbers were die cut using the Cuttlebug Olivia alphabet.

Merry Christmas Penguins by Cheryl Walker

Cheryl colored these Penguin Chicks with four different shades of grey Copics. She added Stickles to their hats and Flower Soft to the cap on the last little one. The flowers have peppermint Skittles in the centers, and she punched out branches for behind the flowers. The snow cap on the bow is a button.

Jennifer used one of the penguins from the new Penguin Chicks digital stamps released this month. She colored the penguin chick with Copic markers to match her background papers. She added a little Stickles to the patterned paper to make the snow glittery. Inside the card, it says "Warm Winter Wishes."

Dancing Penguin by Michelle Redman

Michelle has also chosen an image from Penguin Chicks. She used Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits to color her image. The Cuttlebug Snowflake folder was used on SU! Shimmer White paper for the background layer. She embossed white snowflakes on her Bashful Blue and stamped "Happy Feet" with an alphabet stamp set. For her finishing touch, she added dazzling diamonds to three snowflake brads.

Free Standing Pop-Up Christmas Pup by Lynn McAuley

digi-stamps

This delightful little puppy from Ho Ho Hollydays sits up so sweetly that Lynn just had to make him into a free standing pop-up card. He is colored with Copic markers except for his paper pieced hat. The designer papers are from Eskimo Kisses by BasicGrey. Lynn added faux fur to the cap and a rhinestone to the holly. The "Happy Holidays" sentiment is from EKSuccess.

Christmas Pooch by Lisa Cook

digi-stamps

Lisa is a dog person, so she couldn’t wait to make a card with this image from Ho Ho Hollydays. She colored the image with Copics and added some white flocking to the hat for the fuzzy effect. Her Christmas card is finished off perfectly with a shiny satin bow. Very cute pooch waiting for Santa.
