Design Team: Get Edgy

This week the Design Team focused on finishing the edges of their designs. The edge treatments range from punches, to scallops, to lace, to serging. All that attention to detail added such nice finishing touches to their cards.

Serged Winter Wishes by Cindy Royal

Cindy chose a Polar Bear and sentiment (from the same image set) and made a card. Her edge technique for this week is serging. She used her serger sewing machine to edge outside and inside layers, using yellow and green thread to match the card’s paper colors. The image itself is printed onto gesso-coated paper and heat embossed. She then colored it with Copics.

Joy-Love-Peace Polar Bear by Broni Holcombe

A scalloped circle was used for the front of this easel card. The edges were finished by sponging and then by adding a line of pink Stickles all around the edge. The edge of the inside patterned paper was also finished by using a Fiskars Threading Water punch. Even the little scalloped sentiment circle has finished sponged edges. The image comes from the Polar Bear Cubs set.

Torn Mulberry Paper Season’s Tweeting by Maria Bell

digi-stamps

Maria has a lot of mulberry paper because there was a time when they were really popular. She likes the elegant look of mulberry paper on cards and thought it would be a perfect torn background for the Season’s Tweeting image. Sticking with the elegant theme, she layered the image and mulberry paper over gold metallic cardstock. She colored the image with Copic Markers and heat embossed glittery embossing powder to give the image a very sparkly appearance. The bottom edging is lace.

"Caught a bug?" by Lynn McAuley

digi-stamps

Sadly Lynn is needing way too many get well cards this time of year. But whose spirits wouldn’t be lifted by this adorable dragonfly? He is a part of Angels Landing’s Button Bugs set. She used a mixture of buttons and button brads to create his body. The wings are coated with iridescent ice Stickles. Some edges of the card were punched and distressed.

Edgy and Sweet by Cheryl Walker

This bear from Mini Bears & Birds is airbrushed, and Cheryl added lots of "edgies." She did decorative sewing along the edges, and a punched border at the bottom. The circle has a pendant for its edges.
