The &#8220;after&#8221; image wasn&#8217;t complete, though, because it was still floating in space. It wasn&#8217;t grounded. There are many different ways to ground an image, and the step-by-step photos below show one of the easiest, using chalks or pastels.

What a perfect opportunity to revisit a new-to-me technique, blending Prismacolor pencils with baby oil instead of Gamsol odorless mineral spirits.
